Closing out a flight
How to close a flight cleanly so its times, counters and sign-off flow through the rest of the system.

Close a flight out when the aircraft is back. Closing records what the flight did, its times, its counters and the sign-off, and that single record updates the training record, the aircraft's hours and the charge, all at once.
Closing out
- On the operations board, find the returned flight.
- Choose Close out.
- Enter the times and counter readings, and confirm.
The reading you enter is checked against the last one held for that aircraft, so a counter cannot go backwards by accident. See Recording counters, and why they can't go backwards.
What closing out moves
Because everything reads from the same record, one clean close-out:
- Advances the student's training record for the exercises flown.
- Moves the aircraft's hours and recomputes the next maintenance due date.
- Updates the instructor's duty and flight-time record.
- Raises the activity-led charge.
Why it matters
A flight left open is a record not yet made and hours not yet counted. Closing out promptly is what keeps the day's picture true, so the dashboard and the next day's schedule are working from what actually happened.
