The in-app flight tools

The everyday pilot tools built into FlyerOS, an E6B flight computer and a holding pattern entry aid, so students do not need a separate app for the basics.

FlyerOS carries the everyday tools a pilot reaches for, so a student on a lesson day does not need to hunt for a separate app to work out a wind correction or a holding entry. They are there, in the same place as the rest of the flying day.

The E6B flight computer

The built in E6B does what the handheld one does: the wind triangle, true airspeed, density and pressure altitude, fuel, time, speed and distance, and the everyday unit conversions. Put the numbers in, read the answer out. It is the calculation a student is learning to do, available the moment they need to check their working.

The holding pattern aid

Holding entries trip up more students than they should, because the geometry is hard to picture under pressure. The holding tool takes the inbound course, the holding side and the wind, tells you the entry type, and draws it, so the abstract becomes a picture. It is a teaching aid as much as a calculator.

Why they are built in

A student learning to fly has enough to carry without a phone full of single purpose apps. Keeping the basic tools inside FlyerOS means one place to open on a lesson day, and one less thing to lose. They do not replace learning the methods, and they are not a substitute for proper flight planning; they are the quick check alongside it.

Who can use them

The tools are open to everyone with an account. A student can use them to practise between lessons, and an instructor can pull one up to demonstrate a point on the ground before you go and fly it.
