Getting your school set up
How onboarding works in FlyerOS: a set of areas, each prepared by us and signed off by the right person, with readiness measured by what you can do rather than a progress bar.
Last reviewed
Setting a school up in FlyerOS is not a wizard you click through once. It is a workspace of areas, each in a clear state, each signed off by the person whose responsibility it is. We do the heavy lifting, then your senior staff double-check and confirm. That confirmation is your own assurance record, not a box we tick on your behalf.
You will find it under Getting set up in the app. Anyone who can sign off something can open it.
Readiness, not a percentage
There is no progress bar. Each area tells you what it is holding up, grouped by consequence:
- Before you can go live — the short list that must be right before the school operates.
- Before an aircraft or person can fly — items that would stop a dispatch.
- For invoicing and forecasting to be right — it works without these, but hours, invoices or maintenance forecasts will be wrong or missing until they are done.
- When you get to it — nothing depends on these to operate.
So readiness answers a real question, "what can't I do until this is done", rather than a number that means nothing on the day.
The four states
Every area sits in one of four states:
- Not started — nothing prepared yet.
- Prepared by FlyerOS — we have filled it in from a template or your data. It is our reading, waiting for you.
- Confirmed — the responsible person has checked and signed it off.
- Not applicable — it does not apply to you (a syndicate has no rooms, a club has no ATO syllabus).
Signed off by the right person
An area is confirmed by the person who holds the responsibility, and the sign-off names that role and person, so it reads as an accountable record rather than "the school confirmed":
- The Head of Training confirms courses, grading and instructor privileges.
- The owner or Continuing Airworthiness Manager confirms the fleet, its opening counters and the maintenance programme.
- The owner confirms roles and permissions.
- Finance confirms rates, VAT and billing.
The gate is enforced by the same permissions the rest of FlyerOS uses, so only the right person can sign.
The handover document
From the onboarding workspace you can open a handover document: a single record of what was set up and who signed off each area, ready to pass to your team or keep on file.
When the go-live gate is clear you can take the school live. See the go-live gate for exactly what that gate checks, and confirming what we prepared for what to look at before you sign each area.
