Notifications, and keeping people informed
How FlyerOS tells students, instructors and staff what changed, which notifications are automatic, and what you can turn on or off.
Last reviewed
FlyerOS keeps people informed as the day changes, so a student, an instructor or the office does not have to chase a phone to find out what happened. Most notifications are a by-product of the operation, not a message someone has to remember to send.
What gets sent automatically
- Booking changes. When a booking is made, moved or cancelled, the people attached to it are told, with a record that it was delivered.
- Something affecting a booking. If an aircraft goes tech or an instructor becomes unavailable, the affected people are notified once operations approves the plan, rather than finding out when they arrive.
- The day ahead. A daily brief can be sent to staff, reading as the day ahead with anything that needs a decision inside it.
Every notification is tied to a real event in the system, so what a person is told matches what actually happened.
What you control
Notifications are configured per organisation, so you decide which events send a message and to whom. You can turn a category off if it is noise for your school, and set which roles receive the daily brief.
Delivery you can rely on
A notification records that it was sent and, where the channel supports it, that it was delivered, so "they were never told" is answerable from the record rather than from memory.
What this is not
FlyerOS is not a marketing tool. Notifications are operational: they tell the people involved in the flying what changed, and nothing else.
